Babban Gona Featured in the Wall Street Journal

In a recent Wall Street Journal feature, Kola Masha, Managing Director of Babban Gona, explains how the organization works to increase the profitability of smallholder farmers while promoting agriculture as an economic buffer against the spread of insurgencies.

Through a package of credit, training, marketing services and high-quality seeds, fertilizers and herbicides provided by Babban Gona via its franchise model,  thousands of smallholder farmers have earned $7.1 million in net income to date. The organization’s goal, Masha says, is “to attract young people into agriculture” which lowers joblessness, a key driver of instability.
